12 Lessons [2015]

12 Lessons [2015]

2015 has been a B I G year for me -- personally, professionally, creatively and as the year draws to a close I've been reflecting on the things I’ve achieved but most importantly on the things I’ve learnt:

  1. Plan your wedding exactly how the two of you want it, don't let anyone else interfere -- it will make for the most magical of days
  2. Leave the job that has you doubting your sense of worth in addition to crushing your spirit and creativity. You will feel so exceptionally liberated when you finally take the leap
  3. Embrace your creativity. Carve out a space in the world for you to express it freely and feel your heart and soul beat with happiness
  4. Step away from people who make you unhappy or don’t make you feel like the best version of yourself
  5. Sometimes it is best to just hold your tongue
  6. Try your hardest to keep a soft heart and mind. It will be difficult and there will be events and people that test your resolve; but you need to try to hold tight to this softness
  7. It's ok not go to the party, dinner, drinks, [insert social activity] if you don’t feel like it
  8. You may be seen as a) too passive b) too aggressive c) too whatever -- You're never going to please everyone and in the end you shouldn’t want or need to
  9. Two glasses of wine is enough - reflux, reflux, reflux
  10. A considerable cause of unhappiness is having your expectations set too high. Don’t expect people to behave the way you would
  11. Have ambitions, dream as big and as crazy as you dare and then plan, plan, plan
  12. Marry your best friend. It will be the easiest (and most wonderful) thing you ever do. You will be thankful each and every single day.
