My Sydney | To Eat

My Sydney | To Eat

I have a confession to make: We eat out A LOT -- and I probably should go and work for Time Out with the amount of restaurant recommendations I give out Sydney has an awesomely diverse and ever changing restaurant scene to explore but sometimes, you just want to go somewhere familiar, to the place that has your favourite dessert or champagne. I have a few places that never fail us -- the food, service - everything at these restaurants is fabulous and welcoming and we are always happy to have spent our time (and money) there. Here are a few of my very favourites --

1. Sagra (Darlinghurst)

-- Vibe: A cosy neighbourhood feel with super friendly waiters who'll let you taste every wine on the list until you've found The One -- Favourite dish: Any of the pasta dishes and most definitely the smashed meringue with blueberries and mascarpone to finish.

2. Chiswick (Woollahra)

-- Vibe: Bright and airy dining areas with gorgeous views of the surrounding gardens - go for lunch, the light in the room is magic -- Favourite dish: Wood roasted lamb or pan fried gnocchi and the home-made sodas (made with fresh herbs from the garden) are the best.

3. Cho Cho San (Potts Point)

-- Vibe: Modern Japanese, super popular with the trendy crowd -- Favourite dish: Pork katsu steamed buns and grilled prawns with kombu butter. They also do great soft serve green tea ice cream with puffed rice and chocolate topping.

4. China Doll (Woolloomooloo)

-- Vibe: Upmarket modern Chinese with views to die for across Sydney Harbour -- Favourite dish: Wok fried beef with oyster mushroom and fragrant rice wine and the sago pudding with vanilla coconut cream and passionfruit syrup.

5. The Wine Library (Woollahra)

-- Vibe: A favourite Friday date night venue for us. Moody, chic wine bar with a great tapas and massive wine list -- definitely sit at the bar if you can -- Favourite dish: Chickpea, rosemary & smoked paprika dip, spice lamb & ricotta gozleme and salt cod fish fingers with paprika mayonnaise.

6. 10 William Street (Paddington)

-- Vibe:  Sexy, simple Italian fare (definitely opt to sit upstairs if you can). Perfect for a Saturday date night -- Favourite dish: Crab and pepper spaghetti (I dream about this dish).
