Marry the Man...

Marry the Man...

Marry the man…who kisses your temple every morning as he rises. Some mornings you’ll be dreaming contently of the softest butterfly kisses and others you’ll feign sleep and wait for that precious moment when he lifts the covers off his long legs and leans towards you with sleepy eyes and love on his breath.

Marry the man...who is as excited for you to walk through the door today as he was when you first met. When the front door clicks behind you after those long, hard days and his deep voice full of love calls out, welcoming you home, you shoulders will relax just that inch or so with contentment.

Marry the man...who knows to take you out for frozen yoghurt at 10pm when you’ve been battered by a hard week. He’ll raise his eyebrows ever so slightly at your ability to pile seven different types of chocolate toppings in that small cardboard cup but he won’t judge you for one millisecond.

You need to god damn marry the man with whom you can’t agree on what movie to watch but on those days that you asked Do you want to go to Hawaii/Indonesia/Malaysia next week? he said yes without missing a beat. Seriously, marry him now.

Marry the man...who pulls your legs onto his lap as you watch TV, who holds your hand as you walk along the street and always (always) reaches back for it after you have brushed the fine hairs out of your face. This man, the man you should marry, with his rugged three day growth knows exactly where to kiss your neck that will make you dissolve into delicious, uncontrollable goosebumps and giggles.

Marry the man...who believes in you and supports all of your wildest dreams because when you declare on that steamy night in New York City that you had found your new home he won’t bat an eyelid but instead work with you for months and months on trying to make it happen.

Marry the man...who gives you the freedom to be yourself, who asks nothing of you other than to share with him an easy life and a wonderful love affair.

Marry the man...who has your back, cooks dinner, holds open doors, orders drinks, challenges you, calls you out on your bullshit, has morals and beliefs that compliment yours and loves you as wildly as you love him.

Marry the man...who whispers with you long into the night and holds your hand as you fall asleep, limbs entwined, faces leaning gently towards each other. Marry the man who holds onto you all night, reaching for you as you toss and turn, his presence providing a safe harbour for your wildest of nightmares until one day they finally stop altogether.

Marry the man that leans over again and again to gently kiss you good morning. Marry him.
